This week brought the season’s first snow to the area. It’s funny, when we first moved to the PNW from Colorado when I was a kid, I insisted that I hated the snow. As everyone around me was swooning over the thought of the constant precipitation turning white and flaky, I couldn’t help but dislike it. I don’t think I really hated the snow, it just wasn’t new or exciting to me. That, and my nature was (and is) to detest the thing that everyone around me loves. It’s my own little kind of rebellion, I guess. That little habit still lands me in odd places on occasion. After a while, I learned to like the snow again, and then upon moving back here, realized that I really love all forms of weather, good or bad. I love the sunshine, and the 300+ days per year we get it here. I love the rain, infrequent though it is. I love thunderstorms, snow showers, heat, cold, and everything in between. Weather is quite possibly the stupidest thing to complain about because, well… it is what it is. Can’t change it, you can only endure it. Or escape it.

And who would want to escape the weather here? It’s always sunny, unless it’s a thunderstorm. It gets cold in the winter, but never for too long. It gets hot in the summer, but never too long. All I know is that it’s perfectly pleasant nearly year-round, and if we’re lucky it will snow again before the month is out. So don’t complain, just enjoy. It never stays the same too long, anyhow.
